Made to order in India: This rug is crafted after your order is confirmed; it is not stocked in a U.S. warehouse. Production and international courier transit are separate stages. For a specific installation deadline, contact us to confirm the current estimated schedule before purchasing. How production and delivery work.

Golden natural-fiber texture for a layered room

Bring an earthy foundation to your space with Lav & Lira's handwoven Soumak braided jute rug. Its natural golden tone and chunky braided design pair with wood furniture, linen and Scandinavian-inspired interiors. Picture it grounding a seating arrangement or defining a quiet reading area.

Material and craftsmanship

Made in India from natural golden jute yarn, this rug features handwoven Soumak braided construction. The golden tone describes its color; this listing identifies the material as jute rather than hemp. Confirm thickness with us if you need a particular clearance beneath doors or furniture.

Choose your size and shape

  • 3 × 5 ft and 4 × 6 ft: Consider these for a compact seating nook or accent area.
  • 5 × 8 ft and 6 × 9 ft: Consider these for a medium furniture arrangement.
  • 8 × 10 ft and 9 × 12 ft: Consider these for a larger living room.
  • 10 × 14 ft and 12 × 15 ft: Options for expansive furniture arrangements.
  • 10 × 10 ft and 12 × 12 ft square: Consider these for a square room or seating layout.
  • 8 ft and 10 ft round: Consider these for a circular furniture arrangement or defined sitting area.

Measure your furniture layout before choosing. In a living room, aim to rest at least the front legs of your seating on the rug. Marking the proposed footprint with removable tape can help you compare sizes and shapes.

Custom dimensions

Placement and care

Confirm suitability with us before choosing this rug for an outdoor, damp or exposed location; weather resistance has not been specified. Avoid soaking the rug. Blot spills promptly with a clean, dry cloth rather than rubbing. Confirm suitable vacuum settings and cleaning methods with us before use, and consult a professional natural-fiber rug cleaner for deeper cleaning.

Shade and handmade character

Natural jute and hand weaving can create subtle differences in shade and texture. Lighting and screen settings also affect how the golden tones appear. Contact us if you need help matching existing furnishings.

Rug-pad guidance

Consider a rug pad compatible with your flooring to help reduce movement and provide cushioning. Choose a pad that remains concealed beneath the rug and follow your flooring manufacturer's recommendations.

Delivery planning

Contact us to confirm current dispatch and delivery estimates for your size and destination before ordering for a move-in date or installation deadline. Review your checkout summary for shipping charges and applicable offers.

Style and plan this handmade rug

For a thoughtfully layered look, consider this rug in a relaxed interior with natural timber, earthy fabrics and warm golden tones. Jute is sensitive to prolonged moisture; this rug is best selected with its specific placement and care requirements in mind.

MATERIAL NOTES

Why we love virgin wool

Virgin wool is wool fiber that has not previously been processed into a finished textile. It offers natural character, warmth and a tactile quality that complements handmade rugs. Fiber feel, density, appearance and durability depend on the weave and finishing process.

Not every Lav & Lira rug is the same material

Our assortment includes designs made from wool as well as wool-and-jute blends and viscose. Some rugs specify New Zealand wool; others identify different fibers. Always refer to the individual product's stated fiber composition instead of assuming every item contains 100% virgin wool.

Choosing the right construction

Chunky wool loops, flatweaves, shag piles and hand-knotted designs offer different experiences underfoot. Check pile height, furniture clearance and the room's use before you order.

Care and production

Use gentle suction without an aggressive beater bar where appropriate, blot spills promptly and seek professional rug care for difficult stains. Read our care guide. Our handmade rugs are currently made to order in India; learn about production and shipping.

Care information

CARING FOR HANDMADE RUGS

Keep the texture. Enjoy the everyday.

Handmade rugs vary by fiber and construction. The following tips are general guidance, not a substitute for the care requirements of an individual rug. For wool, jute, viscose or delicate specialty fibers, always confirm a cleaning method is suitable before applying moisture or chemicals.

Routine vacuuming

Use gentle suction without a rotating beater bar on chunky loops, shag and delicate handwoven rugs. Start on a discreet area, avoid pulling loose fibers, and vacuum in the direction that does not catch the weave.

Spills and stains

Blot immediately with a clean, absorbent cloth—do not rub. Avoid saturating natural fibers, particularly jute and viscose, and do not apply an untested solution. For stains, spills affecting dyes, or damage, consult a reputable professional cleaner familiar with the rug's materials.

Natural fibers: what to expect

New wool rugs may shed loose surface fibers initially; gentle maintenance and avoiding aggressive brushing can help. Handwoven surfaces and colors can vary slightly from piece to piece. Viscose can be sensitive to moisture and crushing; jute may discolor when wet.

Furniture, sunlight and rug pads

Rotate the rug occasionally to distribute wear and sun exposure. Use a floor-compatible rug pad for grip and cushioning where appropriate, and check the pad materials with the flooring manufacturer. Protect high-traffic areas and check furniture leg pressure on delicate piles.

When to seek professional care

Seek specialized assistance for large spills, persistent stains, odor, color bleeding and deep cleaning. Never machine wash, bleach, tumble dry or steam clean without confirmed manufacturer guidance for the particular rug.
