About Virgin Wool Rugs | Material & Care Guide
MATERIAL NOTES
Why we love virgin wool
Virgin wool is wool fiber that has not previously been processed into a finished textile. It offers natural character, warmth and a tactile quality that complements handmade rugs. Fiber feel, density, appearance and durability depend on the weave and finishing process.
Not every Lav & Lira rug is the same material
Our assortment includes designs made from wool as well as wool-and-jute blends and viscose. Some rugs specify New Zealand wool; others identify different fibers. Always refer to the individual product's stated fiber composition instead of assuming every item contains 100% virgin wool.
Choosing the right construction
Chunky wool loops, flatweaves, shag piles and hand-knotted designs offer different experiences underfoot. Check pile height, furniture clearance and the room's use before you order.
Care and production
Use gentle suction without an aggressive beater bar where appropriate, blot spills promptly and seek professional rug care for difficult stains. Read our care guide. Our handmade rugs are currently made to order in India; learn about production and shipping.
